Capacity Building
Objective
To work with local Nigeria communities to implement water projects, empowering local Nigerians with the knowledge, expertise and experience to continue the positive cycle of change.
Approach
Local Research Team
We employ and train local individuals, usually university graduates, to form our research team. As research agents, they collect precise data about their community’s water source. The data collected enables Fairaction to gather information on local water quality and borehole maintenance. Click here to view our research work on our mapping system
Local Technicians and Caretakers
We train and equip local technicians to repair boreholes when there is a minor damage. Our local professionals and in-country partners repair complex damage that a local technician is unable to repair.
We train and equip borehole caretaker to perform preventive maintenance, monitor and report borehole use.
Local Professionals and In-country Partners
We work with local professionals and in-country partners to build the most suitable water solution for each community. Water solutions includes but not limited to the following: solar powered boreholes, hand pump boreholes, rainwater catchments, water purification systems, filters etc.
Centralised System
Our Target 6.1 Map is a centralised system that aims to aid the work of local governments, local and international charities, and philanthropist in providing sustainable access to clean drinking water for all Nigerians.
Some Benefits of the Centralised Mapping Systems:
- Prevents Overlapping of Water Aids: It enables water aid providers to see where aid is required and where aid have already been provided.
- Planing and Budgeting: It enables water aid providers to see the water solution required in each community and the cost of providing the solution.
- Maximising Impact: It enables water aid providers to see where their aid will be most impactful
- Sustainability of Water Project: It enables water aid providers to monitor the functionality of their water solution so they can take the appropriate action when there is a damage to the solution.
